The "great psychedelic lesson" made me think of the epilogue of "Barry Lyndon":
"It was in the reign of George III that the aforesaid personages lived and quarreled; good or bad, handsome or ugly, rich or poor -- they are all equal now."
Beautifully put. I was very enamoured with Watt’s pantheism in my twenties but thinkers like Murdoch and Midgley have persuaded me that there is an important moral sense in which what I imagine myself to be is not a fiction.
There's this maker fallacy buried in a lot of religion: I made this box! My parents made me! Gravity made the sun! Seeds make plants! But there is a possibility that's a narrow-band view of a wide mix of wild cause and effect that defies standard ideas about the difference between Maker and Made. So ... all that to say ... because Something Is doesn't mean Something Made the Something That Is. It might mean the whole crazy kit and caboodle rises and recedes in a big ... Something.
I've never heard of "letsism." I just looked it up. What a marvelous word capturing a very real emotional or cognitive experience people seem to have at one time or another ... some all the time ... and others never.
To think deeply about any topic is divine but to live your wisdom is supreme. Thank you for this arrangement of thoughts and words. Blessings.
Very nice remark. Love that.

Love that. It’s one of Kubrick’s films I haven’t watched yet—you’re giving me a good reason to.

Love getting some new rabbit holes to dive in.

Good take. Do I hear a case for Ietsism? You’ve touched well there on what it brings to the table.
